Brittany M. Cavaco

Welcome to my website! My name is Brittany Cavaco and I’m originally from East Providence, Rhode Island. I started dancing at the age of three at the State Ballet of Rhode Island and The Dance Academy in Massachusetts. When I was 14, I started training seriously under the direction of Zhanat Baidaralin and Vera Kurmasheva in the Vagonova method at their school, Ballet Prestige. While there, I performed the lead roles of Odette in Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, Paquita in Paquita, Princess Florine in Sleeping Beauty and the Sugar Plum Fairy, Arabian soloist and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, as well as numerous contemporary works. I competed in Youth America Grand Prix twice, and I attended summer programs at Ellison Ballet, Boston Ballet, Ballet Prestige and Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts.

In high school, I was an AP and Honors student at La Salle Academy in Providence, RI where I won the Department of the Army Award with Honorable Distinction. I have also received awards from the U.S. Naval Research Department for long-term scientific biology and microbiology experiments that I individually conducted. I’ve received numerous college scholarships and I currently attend Northeastern University as a Business Management and Marketing Major. With this major I hope to someday open my own Pilates studio or marketing company.

After graduating from Ballet Prestige, I was accepted to train under the direction of Sara Knight at SLK Ballet Professional Training Program in New York City. During my two years at SLK Ballet, I worked on perfecting my technique, developing my artistry and becoming a well-rounded dancer. At SLK Ballet I performed the roles of Giselle in Giselle and Finger Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, was the lead in Gayane, a soloist in Paquita, a performed in numerous contemporary works. I was also a principal guest artist with the Long Island Ballet Theater and the Alto Jonio International Dance competition in Italy in 2014. I’ve danced with SLK Ballet at Mount Sinai Hospital, The Ronald McDonald House and Stanley Morgan Hospital bi-monthly for sick children and patients.

In the spring of 2015 I graduated from SLK Ballet and received a contract with The Washington Ballet, in Washington, DC . I danced there for 2 seasons.

As a dancer one of my unique qualities is the ability to connect with the audience. I fully immerse myself into the character I am portraying and the message I am conveying. I am not afraid to take risks and I let my emotions be fully exposed when on stage.
